My dear friend Carolina Brown (1961-2022) passed away in May. Carolina aka CB aka Carolyn was a gifted writer, poet, dancer, environmentalist, yogini, teacher, partner, explorer, adventurerer, sister, auntie, friend, and radiant flower of Mother Earth.
This past weekend, friends and family gathered together for a beautiful Celebration of Life along the Pacific Ocean. We who attended the memorial were invited to offer our words and remembrances at an open mic. I drafted these handwritten words before the event and read them - hard and fast à la Ginsberg in North Beach. I share them with you here as an homage to my friend Carolina, a true woman of the wild. Perhaps you will find something in it for yourself.
Grief always bears incredible gifts when we experience and embody it consciously! May we remember always to live, love, and die fully and wholly and completely.
And now for an uplifting “Carolina in My Mind”: John Denver performs a duet with Tom on This Is Tom Jones show in 1971.
