When I make collages, I set boundaries and limit myself to using images from magazines I already have on hand. I work in a limited time frame - within a few hours. Instead of a typical vision board approach, imposing my own already-conscious ideas of what I’d like to see, I pull images that stand out to me without knowing the reason - they simply speak to me. I then mock them up on a large or small poster board in a way that seems to click or “work.” Then, I’ll glue them down.
This piece was completed in mid-October and surely reflects some of the global tragedies in our midst. It continues to reveal its more personal messages.

Pretty amazing collage. Given the eclipses running through Texas, the Texan theme stood out for me. But, also, I was struck by the man on the left, the one with some sort of huge pack on his back. He seems to be the only one truly at peace (at one) with himself / his life. All the others seem to be in some stage of trying to be at peace (at one with self), but not. What stands out for you?
