i understand your words Erin, I also find myself in this peculiar dichotomy of heartbreak born from a longing of whats lost. the nostalgia! and us romantics, as a favourite bard used to say, i get nostalgic for breakfast! which i identify with so much, and indeed although I love my comforts, as a true taurus, its comfortable precisely because I am not metabolizing in quite the same way, its comfortable because its a little easier to be less present, less part of the landscapes that life eclipses around me.
And it's something that has showed up in my work, herbal healing, people having more and more issues with their pancreas, their digestive functions and ultimately their ability to metabolize life. And without that helpful hand of the rattling windows, the dust, the smells, the smiles , the love, the danger, wrapped up in the luxury of charged complacency, yes it gets harder to metabolize, to feel.
May you catch the eye of a passing stranger and feel the heartbeats as your own, may you be blessed in the soft arms of comfort while you do the work that touches so many.
