Thanks, Erin! Who knew you could take a day off on a vacation?😂 I am definitely incorporating that. Also making my list for my next trip to include incense.

One thing I loved on my trip to Europe this year was a small case for my cell phone with a wallet on the back. Enough room for cards and $ AND a crossbody strap. There are fancy ones, but my knock-off let me move unencumbered and phone was right at hand for pictures.

I always have a big bag of nuts with me on the plane and some fruit I buy before I board. I am at my crankiest when hungry and this has saved me time after time. Also I never travel without my cashmere scarf/shawl- I freeze on planes sometimes and it folds up very small. Also TCM says avoiding getting your neck cold helps keep your immunity high.

Am feeling a little more excited to travel now.🙏❤️

I love these tips, Heidi! I am in fact traveling with a cashmere shawl that someone gave me as a gift ☺️. And I agree about keeping your neck warm.

Would love the link for the phone case. Sounds great, I might have to try that.

And yes, big fan of nuts and an emergency apple. They're in my bag!

I have to add: I don't consider longer term trips vacations. Travel is not relaxing for me personally, it's another type of learning and (usually enjoyable) work I have to integrate, to be honest. Vacations are when I stay in one place a week or two and enjoy the beauty and rest! Usually involves a beach. I need a vacation after traveling big trips! 😂 We just had a big discussion on this yesterday, including the difference (real) between travel and tourism!

I appreciate these distinctions of vacation, traveling and tourism. This is a wonderful way to look at travel.

Tourism faded a long time ago for me, but the idea of vacation has stuck around as “the way travel should be.” Even thought it never is 😂.

This insight is very helpful! Thanks for the grounding. Being retired and living in Hawaii does feel a lot like a a vacation almost daily. I am now more interested in traveling without that expectation.💗

Here is the case I got- different sizes for each type of phone.

It's such a great topic.

I wish travel was more like a vacation! But it's not. For me, anyway. 🤣

Love these travel tips! Of course I'm very familiar with the squishy pillow, a lifesaver. And I've adopted the sleeping eye pad and earplugs myself to my great benefit. And the Kindle, don't get me started, especially paired with the Libby app and my local library. Rarely buy books but read many. Thanks for these!

You caught me here, Erin. I've done a lot of travelling, especially in my corporate executive career but also later as a management consultant. I've always been ready to go on the road and I felt I can land anywhere with my purse (which is always pretty big) and a few sets of clothes. I've never considered the level of detail you are describing. Not even close. And you got me thinking… Is it that I am not that sensitive, or ... and this is where you caught me... Do I ever spend enough time to consider my own wellbeing? And yep! That's the one... I might not need the same things as you do, but what I realized is how blind I am at times for my own needs and wellbeing. And that relates to everyday life as well. Thank you for provoking reflections and deeper self-awareness.

Thanks, Natalia, for the reflection! I admire anyone who can get up and go at the drop of a hat. One thing that strikes me as different, is that staying somewhere for a few days is different than moving around a foreign country for weeks or several months - many more environments - weather and lodging and collective Fields - to deal with. I realize I'm in a tier of people, too, who are having a harder time traveling for many reasons - stage of life, sensitivity to energies, scents, noise; a need for more rhythm and grounding. But I've always had a rough time of it, to be honest - stems from an unstable childhood and a fear of moving place too quickly. Important, intriguing topics!

Yes, tuning in to our own needs and wellbeing. It's a fine balance - sometimes I feel too "self" centered b/c of my needs, and wish I were less focused on it. On the other hand, I can't get away with it b/c my body and mind screech loudly if I do not attend. We are such interesting creatures!

I am grateful for your comments!

I agree 100% that a few days on a business trip are different from travelling for months. And then also, in my experience, visiting as a tourist is also very different from moving and living there. I don't think you are being too self-centered- you need to take care of yourself. We all need to do that. I found your tips very helpful and they provoked me in a good way! Thank you!

Brilliant Erin, great information and very inspiring for sensitives. I travelled to Hawaii from Australia two years ago with noise cancelling headphones. I was so amazed that there were only a few people using them on the plane because when I took them off I couldn’t believe the level of aeroplane noise passengers were enduring. I loved Avery Circle and I too went there very early and just hung with this amazing beings. Brings joy to my heart remembering this and knowing you too experience them. The Island of Skye looks amazing. Maybe I’ll be there too one day. Happy travels Mx

Thanks, Melinda! I've also done that - taken off the noise-cancelling headphones midflight and wondered how I used to live without them! What a wonderful invention! I use them at home sometimes, too, as needed.

So glad you went to the Avebury beings. What beings, indeed.

I always appreciate your comments!

Thank you for this topic of travelling for introverts Erin. I also traveled a lot with a lot less anxiety, other serious health issues. I also thought about this and wondered about you doing spiritually led travel for small groups.

Good morning! First, I loved that you are posting from Scotland, i felt as if I was there too..

As a highly sensitive person I really appreciate your travel tips. My family moved to Germany several years ago and I visit them every year. As I get older I find I get more fatigued and have a harder time adjusting. Your tips were perfect! I look forward to more tips!

Enjoy your wonderful time!
